am i SUPPOSED to be happy about that?

I have been volunteering in Meechi's classroom for a couple of weeks now. Today I saw something I hadn't seen before. Meechi was goofing off and not staying on task. He was being silly with one of the other kids rather than coloring his pumpkin. It made me happy.

Okay, so parents probably aren't really supposed to be happy about seeing their kids goof off instead of working. I get that. But.... this is Meechi we are talking about here. He is a wild ball of energy that never quits moving and never shuts up at home. At school he is something else. I have seen him be more like a robot there. He moves about quietly going where he is supposed to go and doing what he is supposed to do. He is focused, he is on task, he is super quiet, and he does not really interact with the other kids. So seeing him spend a minute or two goofing off... It made me happy.

I have this feeling with Isaac often. When he does not finish all of his food and gets up to run and play it is a sign of progress. I get your joy and I am glad for all of you. Progress comes in funny bits.
