He is just the smartest kid in his class, that's all.
Okay, so I may be going a bit overboard but I am his mom so I am entitled to be that way.
Today was Meechi's parent/teacher conference at school. We found out that he is in the level three reading group, which is the highest group. We also found out that when they did the testing to determine which groups the kids would be in, Meechi scored the highest.
Does that really make him the smartest kid in class? No, not necessarily. It does mean that I feel better about how good of a job I have done with him at home. My goal for the summer was to have him reading before Kindergarten started. Then I got a job and had almost no time. I squeezed in what I could. He is reading pretty well now. I knew that his reading was above average for a beginning Kindergartner, but I did not really have him at the level I had hoped for. So I was happy to hear that he scored high on the reading evaluations.
Even if it does seems braggadocios I am super happy to know he was tops in his class.
